 Male Reproductive System

Introduction

Reproductive system ensures the continuation of the species. The major difference between reproductive system and other system such as urinary system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, ect. Is that other systems function for the survival of the individual but the representative system ( Producing offspring  ) is not necessary for the survival for individual. Individual can live a long and healthy life without reproductive offspring. However,  continuous of generation depends only on reproductive system.

Four processes excute the function of the reproductive system :
  1.  Production of egg and sperm
  2. Transport and maintenance of egg and his son
  3. Nurturing of developing offspring
  4. Secretion of male and female sex hormone.

The organs of the reproductive system are divided into two groups namely internal reproductive organs and external genital organs. Gonads are the main organs Which produce the gametes- sparm and egg or ovum. A pair of testis ( singular - testis) produces sperm in males and a pair of ovaries produces ovun in female.

Male Reproductive organs

Male reproductive organs include the primary sex organ and accessory sex organs.

Primary sex organs

Testis

Testis is the primary sex organ or gonad in males. It Corresponds with ovary in females.
There are two testes in almost all the species.
In human beings both the testis are situated in scrotum. Each testis weighs about 15-19 gm. And measures about 5 x 3 CM. Testis contains about 900 coiled tubules known as seminiferous tubules which produce sperms. Seminiferous neferoun tubules continue as the Vasa efferens, which form the epididymis.
It is continued as bad deferencs. The terminalportion of vas deferens is called ampulla.

Accessory Sex Organs

Accessory sex organs in males are
  1. Seminal vesicles
  2. Prostate gland
  3. Urethra
  4. Penis
